My Own Healing Journey …

My given name, Melanie means “darkness” while Zaia means “light.” A gift from my Ancestors, the name is an interesting juxtaposition — a beautiful balancing of the two energies. My career path has a similar balancing of two worlds.

I began my career in advertising agencies working with McDonald’s, Pepsi-Cola, and Royal Caribbean. It was my nearly two-decades long volunteerism with a grassroots organization for people with HIV/AIDS that led me to a career shift into nonprofits. Then, the wish that I could have helped my mother through her terminal cancer on a deeper level led me to exploring my innate abilities as a healer.

As a result, in 2013 I did a rigorous year-long training program in meditation and energy healing with Intuitive Mind in Tacoma, WA, based in Ancient Mystery School techniques. I am also trained in Vipassana meditation and am certified by The Four Winds Society as an Energy Medicine Practitioner. I am also trained to work in the Quantum Energy field and I am currently working on my certification in Somatic Trauma-Informed coaching.

I serve on the Board of Soul Seeds, a nonprofit committed to bringing intuitive energy healings to underrepresented communities. I have seen the remarkable impact of meditation on youth who were unhoused and the staff who worked with them — dramatic shifts after only a few sessions served as reminders of the healing power within.

My spiritual quest has taken me to India, South Africa, and Nepal; each experience deepened my connection to my own inner wisdom. Recently in Ghana, I had the opportunity to connect more deeply to my own spiritual ancestral lineage and that has informed the development of programs for women and nonbinary people of color.

To me, the beauty of this energy work is the ability to find your own answers. I serve as a gentle guide, encouraging the development of a relationship with your own intuition/your own spirit.

My heart has always been called to service; my work as a healer fulfills that calling and I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
